Saw an IDE hard drive LED hack on
the web one day; on Perfect's site.

This is an easy mod that offers great return.

Connect pin 39 of the IDE
connector to the cathode of the LED.

Connect the anode to pin 14 if U1 through the 220 ohm resistor.

The exact value of the resistor will
vary depending on the type of LED
that you use.

The lead from the cathode to pin
39, and hot glued to the board.
