We left off last update with the idea of using
the blank face plates for the faces of the two
5.25 drives. Then I had a better idea. Why not
use the faces from the drive mechs in 1541's.

The face from the 1541 fits perfectly on the 1571
with a small mod. The write protect sensor was mounted to the plastic face on the 1541; but not
on the 1571.

The shaft for the latch was 180 degrees
different for the 1541 and the 1571.

Here, the shaft has been rotated and installed
in the 1571. The face plate is installed as is the
lever. The 1541 lever is held on with allen set
screws in a brass collar.

Next, the 1541 II mech. It's different than
the 1541/71 and a different face plate is
used. The hunt is on for one of this style.
